About Calendula

A non-stop heirloom favorite, Calendula has long been beloved for its prolific bloom! Also sometimes known as "pot marigold", Calendula seeds are notoriously easy to grow. Calendula is typically grown for its floral beauty, but it is also famously used as an edible flower as well.

When to Plant Calendula Seeds

Calendula can be sown directly outdoors, after the threat of frost. They can also be started indoors in trays, 3-4 weeks before your final frost date.

Where to Plant Calendula Seeds

Calendula does well in Full Sun and is tolerant of partial shade. Keep in mind that Calendula can struggle in hot summer heat, so would benefit from afternoon shade.

How to Plant Calendula Seeds

Plant Calendula seeds in rows, pressing 1/2 inch deep, and allowing 5 inches of space - this covering is important as sunlight can disrupt germination. Seeds should germinate within a week.

How to Care for Calendula

Pinch off spent blooms to encourage new growth. A layer of mulch in the Spring around the base of the emerged plants may help discourage weeds and keep your soil moist.

From Our Customers

5.00/5 Based on 5 Reviews

  1. Excellent Variety

I left a review of these last year, but I had only planted three plants. I was pleased that I had gotten three different colors. This year I planted closer to 15 plants; all are very healthy and vigorous. It seems that no two plants are alike. Each one is slightly different from the others, and some are very different. They are all bright and cheery, yellows and oranges. One has an orange center with yellow petals that transition to orange; that is my favorite. I am so excited about all the different colors in this mix. I love calendulas and would highly recommend them (especially this mix).

  2. Very Full Flowers

These are strong plants. They grew quickly, have strong stems, and Beautiful, full blooms. I am very pleased.

  3. Calendulas are beautiful and worth the price

These grew quickly at over 80% germination rate.

  4. Cakendula

Seeds popped up to mmediately and plants growing hardily!
